Beneath the stars

I sent a poem

To her heart

She heard the words

I whispered

And she replied

With a gentle sigh

Wander The Night

I will wander the night

Between your dreams

And the stars

I will search the silence

Until I find

Your lost whispers

I will gather them together

And give them back to you

Upon a kiss

Stitched Of The Stars

As an angel

You,

You fell from the night

With broken wings

Feathers scarred

With silence

Tangled

Within the crease

Of my sigh

You whisper to me

To my heart

From yours

For your words are my breath

And reason to breathe

Fracture my soul

Entwine yours to mine

Through braids

Terse verses come with deftness of words that linger like taste of honey on tongue and leave sweetness of it's impressions long after reading is done.
Preface unfurls with heart warming wishes for the reader & a promise for a journey of blue skies. Followed by artful doorway into a dreamy world created with words of 'She Existed' leaving the reader in sighs.
As we sail through, candor in 'The way I Feel' 'Wander the Night' & 'Forever by your side', Stuart takes us on gondola ride of gentle waters of tender adulation.
'The tongue of a poet's gives a piffling peak in the mind of the poet.
"To rest
In the lyric
Of silent psalm
Spoken upon the tongue of a poet."
Is simply breathtaking
'Give me your heart' pours sensuality & 'Trace My Scars' is when reader dives in author's poetically sensually laden verses.
A joyful read indeed.

Central theme, stand out lines, variety of emotions

Matthews’ third collection is his strongest one yet. The poems are tightly focused around a central theme that will resonate with many readers. Lines like, “Sitting silent / In isolation within my soul” will both haunt you and lift you up. I would have liked to see a bit more concrete imagery, as many of the images are abstract. There are powerful emotions in every poem paired with images of what it means to love and be loved. I was pleasantly surprised to see Matthews’ experiment with form, like in BRING A TEAR TO MY EYE or MIDNIGHT MEADOW. Overall, this is a sweet, full-length collection about love.
