About me
My name is Stuart Matthews and I started writing poetry at the age of 20. Never really writing seriously, it was more of a hobby for my own amusement. Over time, however, as more people began to read my poetry, my confidence in sharing my work grew. I started sharing my poems on social media and the feed back was very encouraging, I then began to use poetry prompts provided by fantastic poets on Twitter. Some of the poems inspired by these prompts are in my books. I now, also provide my own poetry prompt #InstantEternal on Twitter.
I have started publishing books for the poetry community on Twitter, using my prompts.
My inspiration for poetry began when I heard the lyrics and poems of Jim Morrison of The Doors.
After being diagnosed with, and cured of 2 types of cancer in 2016, I felt the time was right to consider publishing my own collection of poems.
I have also started writing short stories for children. Many years ago, I wrote a story for my niece, and she really enjoyed it. She now has her own children and I write these stories for them. They enjoyed them too. So my Fruit Salad series of stories are dedicated to them.
This website is a way for me to highlight my books and give you a little insight into what future projects I am working on. I will also be using this site to highlight other great writers and poets.
About my art
At the end of 2020, I started painting. I was inspired by Bob Ross, as many were. I really enjoy painting landscapes, whether from actual places or just scenery made up from my mind. I find the time I spend painting really relaxes me, and I seem to drift into my own little world.
I have recently decided to start selling my artworks. At the moment I have prints available on a few websites.
